Ella Mae Sweat

Mrs. Ella Mae Sweat, age 96 of Zeta Street, Tennille, passed away peacefully at Washington County Extended Care Facility on Saturday, January 6, 2024. A graveside funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in Zeta Cemetery in Tennille with Reverend Danny Thomas officiating. Mrs. Sweat's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Sweat was born in Kite, Georgia, the daughter of the late James Elbert Martin and Sally Cordry Martin. She spent her working career as a spinner for over 35 years with J.P. Stephens and later at Forstmans. Mrs. Sweat enjoyed fishing and was excellent as it. She was a very loving and unselfish woman, who showed her love through her cooking. Mrs. Sweat loved to be with her family, and was a kind and caring mama, grandma, and nanny. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Calvin C. Sweat, Sr; and her children, Calvin C. Sweat, Jr., Mary Ann Giles, Tommy Tapley, and Tony Sweat.

Mrs. Sweat is survived by her daughter, Kathie McDonald and her husband Dwayne of Warthen; sons, Willie Elbert Sweat of Milledgeville, and Alan B. Sweat and his wife Jodie of Jasper; grandchildren, Jeffrey Allen Sweat, Jennifer Wilson, Keith Sweat, D.J. McDonald, Amy McDonald Brown, Laura Brill Sweat, Jillian Sweat Holt, John Giles, James Giles, and Casey Sweat.
