Ellen Tyson Penrod, 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Tuesday, January 17, 2017. A celebration of her life will be held Friday, January 20, 2017 at 3:00pm in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with Rev. Lance Merritt officiating. Burial will be private in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 2:00pm until the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a mission's organization of the donor's choice.
Ellen was born in Harrison, Georgia to the late Robert and Lila Shurling Tyson and was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Rodgers. She was retired from Southern Bell as a telephone operator. Ellen was a member of the former West Highland Baptist Church, now Safe Harbor Church, where she was very involved with all aspects including VBS, WMU, and the choir. She was a homemaker, enjoyed sewing, and was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Allan Penrod; children, Debra (Howard) Frontz, Joy Warren and David (Melissa) Penrod; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
