Mr. Elton Vernon Raley, age 86, of 111 Walden Road in Sandersville died Sunday morning July 18 in the Washington County Regional Medical Center in Sandersville.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday July 20 in the First Baptist Church of Sandersville with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville.
Mr. Raley was a native of Jefferson County, the son of the late John Frank Raley, Sr. and the late Mattie Belle Black Raley. He was a farmer and the owner of Raley’s Grain Elevator. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II. Mr. Raley was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sandersville.
Survivors are his wife, Billie Welch Raley of Sandersville, two daughters, Marilyn Marie Raley Mesler and her husband Gary of Milledgeville and Roseanne Raley Chambers and her husband Jimmy, Jr. of Sandersville, two sons, Benjamin Elton Raley and his wife Carol of Sandersville and Frank Vernon Raley and his wife Whitney of Davisboro, eight grandchildren, Stacey Mesler, Leah Mesler, Wynn Raley, Graham Raley, Anna Grace Raley, Brittany Raley, Chelsey Raley and Kara Raley, a brother, Melvin G. Raley of Gibson and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Monday. The family suggests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Sandersville, 316 Mathis Circle, Sandersville, Georgia 31082.
