Emory Roberts

December 9, 1935 — September 12, 2019

Mr. Clarence Emory Roberts, age 83, of Sandersville, died Thursday, September 12, 2019 following a brief illness.  A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Sisters Baptist Church with burial in the Sisters Baptist Church Cemetery.  Reverend Milton Woods and Elder Kenneth Brantley will officiate.  Pallbearers will be Daniel Anderson, Chris Carswell, Chad Harrell, Daniel Harris, Adam Lord, Daymon Loyd, Nate Pickard, and Josh Powell. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Sisters Baptist Church.

Emory was born on December 9, 1935 and lived in Washington County most of his life.  He was the son of the late Charlie Hudson Roberts and Willie Mae Mimbs Roberts.  He is preceded in death by his sisters, Katherine Roberts Kea, Carolyn Roberts Lord, Julia Roberts Veal and brother, Walton Roberts.  Emory was well known in the community having retired from the kaolin industry after thirty-nine years.  During retirement, he spent twenty-one years delivering flowers for his daughter at Wiles Florist. Emory and Shirley have been active members of Sisters Baptist Church for fifty plus years. “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15

Survivors are his wife, Shirley Roberts of Sandersville; daughter, Cemory Roberts Burgamy and her husband Hilary of Sandersville; granddaughters, Cassidy Burgamy Harris and her husband Daniel, Meredith Burgamy Anderson and her husband Daniel; niece, Rebecca Veal; great granddaughter, Kenzie Kate Harris; brother, Freddie Roberts; and other nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 3:00 p.m. till 5:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home.
