Mrs. Ernestine Godfrey Hodges, age 88 of Oconee died on Friday, December 18, 2020, at Oconee Health and Rehab following an extended illness. A private graveside funeral service for family will be held on Sunday.
Mrs. Hodges was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late Ernest Correll Godfrey and the late Ada Mae Jackson Godfrey. She was the wife of the late Lucian Adam Hodges, Jr. Mrs. Hodges was a retired certified nursing assistant at Oconee Nursing Home. She helped her husband in the operation of Hodges Service Station and was a former employee of Herb’s Fish Place. Mrs. Hodges was a member and Sunday school teacher at Antioch Christian Church. She loved her garden.
Survivors are her three daughters, Regina Hodges Freemen and her husband Michael of Oconee, Diane Hodges Pierce and her husband Timothy of Oconee and Glenda “Beth” Hodges of Milledgeville; three grandchildren, Becky Hines, Angie Peacock and Clay Garnto; her great grandchildren, Logan Jarrett Hines, Cheyenne Hubbard, T. J. Garnto, Emilee Garnto and Wyatt Garnto; two brothers, Delma Godfrey and his wife Kathleen and Lester Godfrey and his wife Margie, all of Oconee.
