Etta Lee Mathews Veal

Mrs. Etta Lee Mathews Veal, age 90, of Tennille died Tuesday January 5 in the Gentilly Gardens in Statesboro. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 9 at 2:00 P.M. in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville with burial in the Zeta Cemetery in Tennille.

Mrs. Veal was a native of Crawford County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Robert Lundy Mathews and the late Fannie Lou Joyner Mathews. She was the wife of the late Marshall William Veal. Mrs. Veal was predeceased by a sister, Fannie Irene Mathews and a brother, Robert Langley Mathews. Mrs. Veal was a homemaker and the former owner of Veal’s Store. She was a member of the Piney Mount United Methodist Church.

Survivors are a son, Jack Marshall Veal and his wife Sue of Sylvania, two grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Gallagher and Dr. Michael (Becky) Donnally, three great grandchildren, Daniel Gallagher, Andrew Gallagher and Megan Donnally, sister- in-laws, Mary Sherwood of Macon, Dorothy Abernathy of Austell and Ola Mask of Vidalia, a brother-in-law, Joe Brown Veal of Tennille and several nieces and nephews.

The family suggests that donations be made to the Methodist Children’s Home, P. O. Box 2525, Macon, Georgia 31203. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00PM until 7:00PM on Friday evening.
