82 years of Bogart, GA in Oconee County died on May 19, 2012.

Funeral services will be Monday, May 21, 2012 at 1:00 pm the chapel of Lord and Stephens, WEST, Bogart, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 am until service time. Graveside services will be Monday, May 21, 2012 at 5:00 pm at Deepstep Cemetery, Deepstep, GA.

He was born on June 15, 1929 in Deepstep, GA to Oscar Franklin Veal & Eugenia B. Veal. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Martha Jane Veal of Bogart, GA, his children, Franklin Veal and wife Lori, David Veal and wife Susan, Beverly Bonner and husband Dan. He had 5 grandchildren, Meg Veal, Lauren Burrell, Eric Veal, Sandy & Chad Dorsey, Wes & Lauren Bonner, and five great-grandchildren,
Rilla Veal, Carson Burrell, Addison Dorsey, Dean Dorsey, Owen Dorsey.
Gene had two brothers and two sisters, the late Dr. Curtis F. Veal, Margaret Hodges, Virginia Merola and surviving brother Dr. Glenn Veal.

Gene married Martha Jane Veal at First United Methodist in Deepstep, GA. She was the love of his life and he believed she was the one who made him to be a better man.Mr. Veal was a graduate of Georgia Military Preparatory School and College, University of Richmond, VA. He spent his life in the dairy business from the time he was a young boy milking cows, a young man running his business at Magnolia Creamery and then spending over 28 years with Pet Milk Company, where he retired as Vice-President in 1986.His career took them to Macon GA, Winder GA, Johnson City TN, and then back home to Georgia for the last 12 years. He was dedicated to Jesus Christ and spent many years as a teacher, on committees and giving leadership to the community mission of ACTS. He was an outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, boating, and gardening. Though he enjoyed many things throughout his life, his greatest joy, accomplishment and legacy is his family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ACTS or the First United Methodist Church of Watkinsville, GA.
