Eugene Lamar Cooper

Mr. Eugene Lamar Cooper, age 83, of Oconee died Monday October 4, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday October 6 in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville with burial in the Bay Springs Cemetery in Oconee. Rev. Ralph Lumley and Rev. Emory Anderson will officiate. Pallbearers will be Otis Wiggins, Joel Cochran, Roy Eubanks, Buddy Eubanks, Delmar Godfrey, Jimmy Christopher, Farris Tompkins and Russ Tanner.

Mr. Cooper was a native of Johnson County, Georgia, the son of the late James Franklin Cooper and the late Addie Lee Godfrey Cooper. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Ann Eubanks. Mr. Cooper was a retired filter operator for Engelhard Minerals and Chemicals. He attended the Oconee Church of God and was a member of the Oconee Volunteer Fire Department and a former member of the CB Radio Club.

Survivors are his wife, Frances Eubanks Cooper of Oconee, a daughter, Robin Jeanne Cooper (Alan) Conger of Oconee, three sons, Michael Eugene Cooper of Oconee, Charles David (Gayle) Cooper of Pensacola and Larry James (Rise) Cooper of Oconee, a sister, Mildred Cooper (J. B.) Christopher of Oconee, eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday.
