Eugene "Green Weenie" Lindsey

August 26, 1949 — August 21, 2014

Mr. Eugene “Green Weenie” Lindsey, age 64, of Sandersville, died Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the Washington County Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 24th, at 2:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery. The Reverend Danny Thomas will officiate. Pallbearers will be Pedro Tamayo, Wayne Johnson, Shane Lord, Tommy Brown, Troy Black, James Barber and C.G. Mandrell.

Mr. Lindsey was born in Columbia S.C. and was raised in Washington County, the son of the late Frank Odell Lindsey and the late Eudell Johnson Lindsey. He formerly worked for Millers and Sheppard Grocery Stores and the Sandersville Railroad before becoming a welder and working for Sheram Construction Company. Mr. Lindsey was a US Marine Corp Veteran during Viet Nam. He is predeceased by his wife, Shirley Jean Sheppard Lindsey.

Survivors are his children, Jeremy Lindsey (Dee) of Sandersville, Juli Lindsey Smith (David Segars) and Stephanie Lindsey all of Tennille; grandchildren, Colton Lindsey, Dillon Smith, Kayley Lindsey, Autumn Davis, Chase Lindsey, Cody Cullens and Madison Lindsey; his brother, Frank Odell Lindsey, Jr.; his sister, Marsha L. Rountree (Paul); and brother-in-law Barry Sheppard all of Sandersville.

The family will be at the residence of Jeremy and Dee Lindsey on Jordan Mill Road in Sandersville and they will receive friends on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home.
