Mrs. Evelyn Sheppard Haynes, age 85, of Sandersville, died Friday, June 2, 2017, at Tennille retirement home. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 5 th at 11:00 a.m. at First Christian Church of Sandersville with burial in Brownwood Cemetery. Reverend Douglas Ivey will officiate. Pallbearers will be Rusty Haynes, Mark Jarvis, Perry Sheppard, James Brooks, Sandy Veal, Adrian Ashley and Danny Jones.
Mrs. Haynes was born in Jefferson County, the daughter of the late Hubert Sheppard and the late Minnie Hughes Sheppard. She is preceded in death by her husband, Herman Orr Haynes and siblings, Audrey Downs, Bob Sheppard, David Sheppard and Jimmy Sheppard. Mrs. Haynes was an active member of First Christian Church of Sandersville. She was retired from the Washington County Extended Care Facility as a CNA. Mrs. Haynes enjoyed volunteering at First Christian Church Mission Store and attended activities at the Washington County Senior Center.
Survivors include: her sons, Gary Haynes and his wife Faye and Tim Haynes and his wife Beth all of Sandersville; grandchildren, Erin Jarvis and her husband Mark and Rusty Haynes; and great grandchildren, Ila Jarvis and Callie Jarvis. The family will be at the residence of Gary and Faye Haynes on Holmes Cannery Road in Sandersville and they will receive friends on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home.
