Mr. E.W. “Jack” Jackson Jr., age 83, of Jordan Mill Rd., Sandersville, died Saturday, February 28, 2009 at the Washington County Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 3rd, at 2:00pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Brownwood Cemetery. Rev. J. Emory Lindsey and Rev. Danny Thomas will officiate.
Mr. Jackson was born in Washington County the son of the late Ernest W. Jackson Sr. and the late Annie Evelyn Todd Jackson. He retired from the City of Sandersville as the Water Superintendant after 5o years of service and was a former long time Volunteer Fireman for the city. Mr. Jackson owned the J & S Angus Farm and was a member of the Washington County Cattleman’s Association. He was a US Navy Veteran and a member of the Sandersville United Methodist Church. Mr. Jackson is predeceased by his wife Sarah Kennedy Jackson and his daughter June J. Hilliard.
Survivors are his children Ken Jackson of Tennille, Kathy Jackson and Jean J. Tanner both of Sandersville, his son-in-law J. W. Hilliard of Sandersville, grandchildren, Jess Hilliard, Jack Hilliard (Jennifer) and Brooke Tanner, great grandchildren, Grayson Hilliard, Abby Hilliard, Jack Hilliard Jr., Dalton Hilliard, Carlei Tanner and Caylie Tanner and his sister Betty J. Hilliard of Atlanta.
The family will be at the Jackson residence on Jordan Mill Rd. and will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
