F. Donald Waller

Funeral services for F. Donald Waller of Cordele will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Cordele First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at 4:00 p.m. in Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. The family will greet friends in the church sanctuary prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Mr. Waller passed away from a massive stroke on Tuesday at Phoebe-Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. He was born in Johnson County and was the son of the late Frank Donaldson and Evelyn Maddox Waller of Sandersville. A graduate of Georgia Tech with a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mr. Waller practiced in his chosen field for many years prior to retiring as a corporate sales manager in the lumber industry. He was an active member of Cordele First United Methodist Church and had served tirelessly on multiple committees through the years. He was presently serving as chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee. He was also a past president of Cordele Rotary Club. Mr. Waller is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gladys S. Waller of Cordele; a daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Bill Hughes of Jacksonville, FL; three grandchildren, Sutton Waller of Cordele, and Alia Hughes and Eli Hughes, both of Jacksonville, FL; a sister, Judy Marlene Waller of Sandersville; and two very special brothers-in-love and their wives, Bob and Penny Smith and Larry and Rosemary Smith, all of Sandersville. He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Donald Waller. The family requests that memorials be made to the Cordele First United Methodist Church, P.O.
