Mrs. Flora Hodges May, age 92, of Sandersville, died Wednesday, April 12, 2017. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 15 th at 3:00 p.m. in May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Washington County Memorial Gardens. Reverend Jerry O’Neil and Reverend Randall Smith will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Brad May, Kevin May, Robbie Holder, Jack Godowns, Jr. J.E. Smith, Bruce Hodges, and Kenny Lazarus.
Mrs. May was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late Otis A. Hodges and the late Nina Lucile Wood Hodges. She was a homemaker and loved farming with her late husband Harold. Mrs. May was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church. She formerly served as a Sunday school teacher and church secretary. She was an avid reader and a regular patron of Rosa M. Tarbutton Memorial Library. Her husband, R. Harold May, predeceases her.
Survivors are: her sons, Ronald H. “Ron” May of Sandersville, Anthony A. “Tony” May and his wife Tina of Macon; grandchildren, Kelly May of Macon, Kevin May and his wife Johnna of Sandersville, Justin Bradford “Brad” May of Augusta, Dr. Katherine Elizabeth Abell of Bluffton, SC., and Margaret “Maggie” Walker Abell of Atlanta; great grandchildren, Kyndall May, Jocelyn May, Sawyer May, Jackson Forehand and Jacklin Forehand; brother, William Leslie “Dick” Hodges and his wife Marie of Lawrenceville.
The family will be at the May residence off of Hwy. 24 West, Sandersville and they will receive friends on Friday, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home.
