Mr. Floyd Ennis Pounds, Sr., age 72, of Tennille died Monday morning, May 27, 2013 in the Tennille Retirement Home in Tennille following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 29th, in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville with burial in the Zeta Cemetery in Tennille.
Mr. Pounds was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the son of the late Ernest Ellis Pound and the late Zimmie Lou Stephens Veal. He was preceded in death by his step-father, James Hilliard Veal; his brothers, Grady Buddy Pounds and Ronnie Veal; and his sister, Ellen Simpson. Mr. Pounds was a retired employee with the City of Sandersville.
Survivors are: two sons, Floyd Ennis Pounds, Jr. of Oregon and Raymond Eugene Pounds and his wife Peggy of Tennille; two daughters, Rebecca Durden and her husband Felix of Gordon and Brenda Laverne Pounds of Macon; grandchildren, Isaiah Pounds, Donovan Shane Hatfield, Phillip Tumblin, Leanne Gutierrez and her husband Jesus, and Raymond Haggerty; two sisters, Marie Snow and her husband Wayne and Corrine Snow both of Milledgeville; and several nieces and nephews.
The family suggests donations be made to the Tennille Retirement Home.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00 P. M. until the hour of service.
May and Smith Funeral Directors in Sandersville is in charge of the arrangements.
