Frances Smith Boyd

Mrs. Ella Frances Smith Boyd, age 85, of Tennille died Monday morning July 28 in the Heritage Inn following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday July 30 in the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville. The Rev. Johnny Anderson and Rev. Phil Wallace will officiate with burial in the Antioch Christian Church Cemetery in Oconee. Pallbearers will be Dwight Boyd, Chuck Bird, Kyle Purvis, James Dennis Boyd IV, Tyler Brett, Corey King and Wes McLeoud.

Mrs. Boyd was a native and life long resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late James Barrs Smith and the late Lizzie Belle Green Smith. She was the wife of the late James Dennis Boyd, Jr. Mrs. Boyd was a homemaker and a member of the Antioch Christian Church. She was a life member of Weight Watchers. She was predeceased by a grandson, Eugene “Peanut” Bussell and a brother, Wesley Smith.

Survivors are her children, Sandra McDonald Bird of Tennille, James Dennis (Cathy) Boyd III of Dublin, Dwight Boyd of Tennille, Claire Boyd (Tom) Brett of Tennille, Mike Boyd of East Dublin and Anne Marie Boyd King of Tennille, nine grandchildren, Desiree Bird Purvis, Charles E. Bird, Jr., James Dennis Boyd IV, Jennifer Boyd McLeoud, Dwight D. Boyd, Ashley Brett Beck, Tyler Boyd Brett, Kelcie King and Kaeden King, ten great grandchildren, Paige Purvis, Amy Purvis, Courtney Bird, Sophie Bird, Christopher Boyd, Catherine Boyd, Ayden McLeoud, Dana Carter, Morgan Brett and Hunter Beck, two sisters, Dorothy Jean Johnson of Oconee and Lila Smith Brantley of Sandersville, a brother, Robert Smith of Columbia, S.C., a special niece, Terry Mason of Tennille.

May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home, 1119 Riddleville Road in Sandersville from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday evening.
