Mrs. Frances Elizabeth Gunby Hodges, age 93, of 107 Crestwood Drive, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 06, 2015 at the home of her daughter. Born in Thomson, Georgia she was the widow of Carl Youngblood “CY” Hodges and a daughter of the late Cliff Gunby, Sr. and Ella Story Gunby.
Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Hodges will be 3:30 PM Sunday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 until 3:15 PM at the mortuary.
Burial will be held at Noon on Monday, June 8, 2015, at Zeta Cemetery in Tennille, Georgia.
She retired from Dolin’s Department Store, and lived in Waynesboro, Georgia for over 50 years.
Mrs. Hodges was a member of Pickens View Wesleyan Church, and was affectionately known by her family as a social butterfly.
Surviving are two daughters, Loretta Dover (Ken), and Luella Sargent (Mike) all of Liberty; a son, Charles Y. Hodges (Elizabeth) of Oxford, GA; 7 grandchildren, Frances Ann Hayes (Lloyd), Pamela Hodges, Kenny Dover (Lisa), Brad Dover, Charlene Damiani, Derek Sargent, and Josh Sargent (LeAnne); 5 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to Journey Hospice, 665 N. Academy Street, Greenville SC 29601, and Pickens View Wesleyan Church, 744 Bethlehem Ridge Road, Pickens SC 29671.
