Mr. Francis Jackson, age 87, of Tennille, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his residence, Tuesday, June 25, 2024. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Friday, June 28th, at 2:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville, with burial in Zeta Cemetery in Tennille. Reverend Danny Thomas and Reverend Bill Snipes will officiate. Pallbearers will be Dean Ennis, Biff Garrard, Dan Glover, Randy Lord, Walter Davis and David Hooks.
Born January 13, 1937, Soloman Francis Jackson was the son of the late Francis Marion Jackson and the late Thelma Smith Jackson. He grew up in Riddleville on his family's farm, where he began farming with his dad at an early age. Francis began his working career with Washington Manufacturing Company, where he worked for 13 years. He later transitioned to the Kaolin Industry, where he worked the next 44 years and retired as plant manager of KT Clay Company. In retirement, Francis worked for his "fishing money" with Howard Sheppard Trucking. He truly loved fishing and hunting and was known to always have a big garden. Francis was a member of First Church of the Nazarene for over 60 years and enjoyed being a part of the church brotherhood.
Survivors include his loving wife, Darnell Helton Jackson of Tennille; his son, Jerry Jackson and his wife Laurie of Metter; granddaughters, Krystal J. Pittman and her husband Bradley of Tennille and Kaitlin J. Callaway and her husband Craig of Warthen and great grandsons, Jackson Pittman and Paxton Pittman.
The family may be contacted at the Jackson home on N. Main Street in Tennille, and they will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Directors.
