Francis Allen May

SANDERSVILLE, GA

Mr. Francis Allen May, age 93, of Jordan Mill Road, Sandersville passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, December 15th at 2:00 p.m. at the Sandersville Methodist Church with Reverend Jared Middleton officiating. A family only committal service will follow in Brownwood Cemetery. Randy Helton, Daniel May, Billy Helton, Chris Alexander, Gary Tanner and Roan Miller will serve as pallbearers. Mr. May' s family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service in Heritage Hall of the church.

Mr. May was reared in Warthen son of the late Hubert May and the late Emma Mary Walker May. He graduated from Sandersville High School where he was the quarterback for the region champion Sandersville Satan's football team. Following high school, Francis began a lifetime work as an electrician working for Fank Bell Electricians. He joined the US Air Force and proudly served his country aboard a B-26 bomber stationed in Japan during the Korean Conflict. Apon his return home, Francis created May Electrical Contractors, a business he would own and operated for five decades. He had numerous other business affiliations during his life including the Sandersville Bowling Alley, Mays Bait and Tackle, the Milledgeville Music Store and Cowboy Bills. Francis displayed tough business skills however he was known to have a soft heart often loaning money to friends in need. He was an active member of the Sandersville Methodist Church and served his church in numerous leadership roles through his life. He was also an avid golfer and member of the Twin City Country Club for over 65 years. Francis served his community as a former member of the Sandersville City Council. He loved fishing and hunting, especially dove and quail. Mr. May is predeceased by his grandsons, Zachary Stephen Westbrook and William Allen "Will" May.

Survivors include his loving wife of 72 years Melba Josey May of Sandersville; children, Frank May Jr. and his wife Susan and Lori M. Westbrook and her husband Steve all of Eatonton; grandchildren, Ember Epperson Allen and her husband Adam and Erin Scott and her husband Carson; great grandchildren, Ehlana Scott, Dara Scott, Reina Scott and Corwin Scott; and his faithful furry companion Heidi.

The May family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Milledgeville and Dublin Hospice and to the Staff of Savannah Court Assisted Living.
