Mr. Fred Morrison, age 80, of Harmony Church Road, Sandersville, passed away Friday, December 27, 2024 following an extended illness. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Monday, December 30th at 3:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Tim Oliver and Reverend Andy Carter will officiate. Pallbearers will be Caleb Frost, Hunter Morrison, Grayson Hilliard, Thomas Peeler, Bill Rivers, T.J. Finnerty and Tommy Tyson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Brett, Herman Zipperer, Gene Oglesby, Stan Johnson, Todd Hamlin and Don Lindsey. Mr. Morrison's family will receive friends, Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Morrison was reared in Tennille where he attended school and graduated from Washington County High School enjoying basketball and football. Car racing and working at Piggly Wiggly were also high school pastimes. Following high school, Fred enlisted in the Georgia National Guard. His working career began with the Georgia Department of Transportation prior to him transitioning to the Kaolin Industry working with American Industrial Clay Company and retiring as a supervisor for Imerys. After retirement, Fred became a licensed and ordained pastor and served Pleasant Plains Baptist and Jackson's Baptist Church. He possessed a love of hunting and fishing. Fred was a part of creating a Christian ministry called HELPS that builds wheelchair ramps for those in need and is still functioning to this day. His parents, Robert Fulton Morrison and Laura Helton Morrison both predecease him.
Survivors include his loving wife Linda Archer Morrison of Sandersville; children, Stacie M. Frost and Brandon Morrison and his wife Susan all of Sandersville, Corey Morrison and Niki Simmons both of Milledgeville; grandchildren, Karlie Frost, Kaleb Frost, Kalli Frost, Hunter Morrison, Ashlyn Morrison and Bailey Barron; great grandchildren, Aubrey Frost, Brody Frost, Taylan Bloodworth, and Wrynn Gold and his sister Mavis Benton of Peachtree Corners.
