Gene Paul Bardwell

Mr. Gene Paul Bardwell, age 77, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama died on Sunday, April 14, 2013 in a Tuscaloosa Hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 16th, at the Antioch Christian Church Cemetery in Oconee, Georgia. The Rev. David Fincher will officiate.

Mr. Bardwell was a native of McComb, Mississippi, the son of the late Arthur Bardwell and the late Jessie Mae Baker Bardwell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Hodges Bardwell and a son, Eric Bardwell. He was a graduate of Florida State University with a Master’s degree in social work. Mr. Bardwell was a health care professional with the Department of Veterans Service in Tuscaloosa for over thirty years.

Survivors are: his son, Scott Bardwell of Tuscaloosa; two grandchildren, Alyssa Leigh Bardwell of Athens and Ryan Lodge Bardwell of Bainbridge; a sister-in-law, Deryl Sheppard of Oconee; and a brother-in-law, Wyman Hodges of Sandersville.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until Noon on Tuesday at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
