Geneva Nelson Veal

Mrs. Geneva Nelson Veal, age 95 of Deepstep, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at Heritage Inn in Sandersville following an extended illness. A funeral service to celebrate Mrs. Veal’s life will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 2:00p.m. at Deepstep United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Reverend Charles Ricks will officiate. Pallbearers will be Randy Hall, C.T. Harris, Jr., Mike Corbett, Edward Miller, Howard Veal, Sam Brooks, Ryan Hood, and Michael Harris.

Mrs. Veal was born in Dorsey, Mississippi to the late Walter S. Nelson, and the late Zula Ann Hester Nelson. She was married to the late T. Jeff Veal, Jr. and they made their home in “Goat Town” where she spent her days being a devoted mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Veal enjoyed painting, ceramics, and talking on the phone. She was a dedicated member of Deepstep United Methodist Church, where she served in various roles, including Sunday School teacher and M.Y.F. leader. Mrs. Veal was a fabulous cook and seamstress. She was once paid the complement that with her, “what you see is what you get,” and she did her best to live up to that statement. Mrs. Veal loved the ocean, but above all else she loved her family.

Mrs. Veal is survived by her children, Larry James Veal (Linda) of Hawkinsville, Ronnie Lee Veal (Priscilla) of Toccoa, Sallie Veal Jackson (Tommy) of Ocala, FL, Jeffrie Karen Veal of Deepstep and T. Jeff Veal, III (Carol) of Deepstep; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; cherished friend, Cindy White; caretaker, Deller Washington; and many other friends and relatives.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service at Deepstep United Methodist Church.
