George Welton Shepherd

August 6, 1932 — March 7, 2008

Rev. George W. “Scotty” Shepherd, age 75, of Hwy. 88 in Sandersville, died Friday, March 7, 2008. Funeral services will be held Monday, at 11:00am at the Kaolin Church of God with burial at 3:00pm at the Macon Memorial Park Cemetery in Macon. Rev. Quint Shepherd and Rev. Randy Shepherd will officiate. Pallbearers will be Ken Shepherd, Patrick Hall, Danny Coulter, Chris Williford, Keith Williford, Ken Williford, Rodney Haynes and Murphy Martin.

Rev. Shepherd was born in Dodge County the son of the late Frank N. Shepherd Sr. and the late Bertha Mae Peacock Shepherd. Rev. Shepherd spent 35 years in the ministry starting and pasturing numerous churches with in the Church of God denomination. He was a Marine Veteran of the Korean War where he was held as a prisoner of war. Rev. Shepherd is predeceased by a sister Pat Brockman and a brother Frank “BoBo” Shepherd Jr.

Survivors are his wife June Carr Shepherd of Sandersville, sons Quint Shepherd (Debra) and Randy Shepherd both of Sandersville, grandchildren, Jonathan Shepherd, Haley Shepherd and Hope Shepherd, brothers Ray Shepherd of Eastman, Charles Shepherd of Warner Robins, and Ernest Shepherd of Macon, and a sister Carolyn S. Hall of Reston VA.

The family will be at the residence of Debra and Quint Shepherd Hwy. 88 Sandersville and will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 6pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home.
