George Allen Wilson

Mr. George Allen Wilson, age 73, of Sandersville passed away at his home on Wednesday October 27,2021 after a six year battle with cancer. The family plans to hold a private memorial service at his home.

George was born in Fort Bragg, NC.  He was a lifelong resident of Washington County and graduated from Washington County High School. He was a member of Tennille United Methodist Church and occasionally attended First Church of the Nazarene in Sandersville.

George worked for Thiele Kaolin Company for 16 years, before serving as a corrections officer for the State of Georgia for 13 years. Following his employment as a correctional officer, George was a truck driver for many years until his retirement. After retirement, George spent his time working in his home shop.

George loved fishing, going to Tybee Island and spending time in the mountains.  He enjoyed woodworking and making crafts with his wife. He cherished the time he was able to spend with his family and he truly loved making people laugh. George is preceded in death by his adoptive parents, Stella K. Wilson and Bill Wilson; his biological parents, Vernell Yawn and Cecil Yawn.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Emma Johnson Wilson; children, Audrey Kevern (Marc), Alisha Roberson (Ricky), and Jody Wilson (Angela); grandchildren, Christopher Wilson (Ashley Allen), Melinda Price (Rob), Laci Roberson, Cheryl Marshall (Zachary Brantley), Daphne Claxton (Otis Claxton, III), Matthew Marshall (Ashley Johnson), Luke Wilson, Caleb Wilson and Evan Wilson; great grandchildren, Alanna Claxton, Grayson Brantley, Kasandra Allen, and Tanner Price
