Mr. Gerald Edward Vaughan, age 75, of Jacksonville died peacefully at Baptist Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida on December 17, 2014.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, December 19th, in the Glynlea Grace United Methodist Church in Jacksonville. Additional services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 21st, in the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church near Tennille, Georgia with burial in the Zeta Cemetery in Tennille. The Reverend Andy Yates will officiate.
Jerry was a native of Jacksonville, the son of the late Corranville Leroy Vaughan and the late Mary Ruth Hall Vaughan. He served as a Naval Aviator during the Viet Nam War and earned seven Air Medals. He married the love of his life, Linda Duggan in 1969. Jerry was a natural story teller, wonderful father and husband and a servant of God and his country.
Survivors are his wife, Linda Duggan Vaughan of Jacksonville; a son, Gerald Vaughan and a daughter, Rebekah Vaughan; sisters, Mary Ruth Tchinske and her husband Bernie and Margie Royce and her husband Harry; a brother, Thomas Vaughan and his wife Kathy; several nieces and nephews and many loving relatives and wonderful friends.
The family will receive friends at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church near Tennille from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Sunday, December 20th.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials in his name to the United Service Organization at USO.org.
Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home is in charge of the services in Jacksonville.
May and Smith Funeral Directors in Sandersville is in charge of the services in Tennille.
