Geraldine Rowe Hargrove

Ms. Geraldine Rowe Hargrove, age 71, of Sandersville died Saturday, May 7, 2022 at her residence following an extended illness. A graveside service celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, May 11th at 1:30 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Savannah.  A visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.

Geri was born and reared in Savannah, the daughter of the late Ella McCullough Rowe and the late Ollie Mae Kirk Rowe. She graduated from Savannah High School and attended Armstrong College. Geri and her late husband Richard Hargrove Jr. worked and raised their family while living in Denmark SC, Emanuel County GA, and lastly Sandersville. Following the death of Richard, Geri finished her teaching degree at Georgia College and began a career as an elementary school teacher for the Jefferson County Board of Education from which she would retire. Geri possessed a love of traveling and photography. She loved flowers and watching birds. Reading and music brought much joy to her life. In addition to her husband and parents, Geri is predeceased by her son, Brian Daniel Hargrove, brother, Fred Earl Rowe, and daughter-in-law, Sheena Hargrove.

Survivors include her sons, Emmett Hargrove of Dacula, GA., and Michael Hargrove (Jessica) of Sandersville; grandchildren, Michael Hargrove Jr. (Angel), Daniel Faith Robinson (Michael), Brianna Hargrove (Justin), Coleby Hargrove and Natalie Hargrove; four great grandchildren; and siblings, Ella Rowe Cochrane of Boston, Mass., and Lorine Rowe Lewis (Lonnie) of Tifton, GA.
