Mr. David Harold Meeks, age 83, of Tennille died on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, December 20, 2021, at May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville with burial in Zeta Cemetery in Tennille with Masonic Rites. Reverend Danny Thomas will officiate. Pallbearers will be Billy McMaster, Stuart Turner, Gary Carter, Michael Littleton, James Watson and Michael Cole.
Mr. Meeks was a native and life-long resident of Washington County, the son of the late Zelna Thomas Meeks and the late Viola Epps Meeks. He was preceded in death by his siblings, John William Meeks, Sarah Frances Johnson and Mary Evelyn Shelton. Mr. Meeks was a retired corrections officer with the Georgia Department of Corrections and the former owner of Meeks Chevron Station in Tennille. He was a former employee of McMaster Hardware in Tennille. Mr. Meeks was a member of Ohoopee Baptist Church and Tennille Masonic Lodge #256.
Survivors are his wife, Ellen Guy Meeks of Tennille; daughter, Felicia Alva Meeks of North Carolina; stepdaughters, Sue Watson and her husband James of Warthen, Samantha Tompkins of Gibson and Jennifer Sheley of Dublin; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. on Sunday.
