Harold Turner

Mr. Harold Turner, age 82 of Macon, passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024 after a brief illness. A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at 3:00 P.M. in Zeta Cemetery in Tennille. The family will greet friends following the service in the cemetery.

Mr. Turner was born in Tennille, the son of the late Seth Thomas Turner and Myrtice Horton Turner Everett. He was a 1959 graduate of Tennille High School, where he was named Mr. Tennille High and participate in both football and basketball. Mr. Turner had a very distinguished working career; he was the owner and operator of Tennille Red and White, General Manager of Buccaneer Motor Lodge on Jekyll Island, a buyer for Timberlake Foods, and a manager for Modern Grocery Company in Macon. In 1990, Mr. Turner started his own food distribution company and continued in this occupation until 2021. For the past 20 years he was a main distributor for Mrs. Griffin’s Barbeque Sauce. One of Mr. Turner’s hobbies, apart from working, was serving as an umpire in the Macon City Softball League. He was a good father to his sons and a loving brother to his siblings. Mr. Turner attended Thomaston Road Church of Christ in Macon. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Turner; and siblings, Hugh Turner, and Ellen Askew.

Mr. Turner is survived by his sons, Kyle Turner of Macon, Thad Turner of Mosul, Iraq, and Lon Turner (Diane) of Fort Valley; sisters, Judy Morgan and Debbie Burgamy both of Tennille; grandchildren, Ashley Turner, Steven Turner, Taylor Cisneros, Edward Turner, Alex Turner, and Mary Turner; and a great grandchild, Atreus Cisneros.
