Harry Carlton Smith

Mr. Harry C. Smith, age 79, of Warthen died on Thursday morning, December 17, 2015 in the Extended Care Facility following an extended illness.

Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 19, in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville with burial to follow in the Warthen United Methodist Church Cemetery. Reverend Gary Mimbs will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Terry Lord, Roy Avant, Carl Cummings, Greg Brantley, Greg Peavy and Scott Campbell. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Kitchens, Alfred Brantley, Frank Smith, Shala Brown, Russell Meeks and Mike Logue.

Mr. Smith was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the son of the late James Carlton Smith and the late Bertie Ruth Oliver Smith. He was a retired line foreman for Washington Electric Membership Corporation with thirty five years of service. Mr. Smith served in the Georgia National Guard.

Survivors are his wife, Jean Cummings Smith of Warthen; a son, Jeff Smith and his wife Sharon of Sandersville; and a grandson, Dalton Smith.

The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Friday.
