Mr. Harry Glen Veal, age 84, of Louisville, died Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 11:00am at the First Baptist Church of Louisville with Rev. Hardy Owens and Ralph Veal officiating. A graveside committal service will be held at 2:ooPM at the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery in Washington County with Rev. James Veal officiating. Pallbearers will be Mr. Veal’s grandsons, Spencer Veal, Patrick Veal, Michael Rice, Josh Spilker, Matthew Miller, Evan Miller and Chris Flowers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of First Baptist and the T.W. Wilson Sunday School Class.
Mr. Veal was born in Johnson County the son of the late Robert Lee Veal and the late Lillie Waller Veal. He was retired from the J.P. Stevens Company as manager of the Dye House. Mr. Veal was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Louisville since 1962 where he served as a Deacon, a former Men’s Sunday School Class teacher and a member of the church brotherhood. Mr. Veal was an avid gardener and fisherman.
Survivors are; his wife of 65 years, Carllene Sumner Veal of Louisville, son, Jeff Veal (Mary) of Atlanta, daughters, Jo Veal and Judy Veal Rice both of Atlanta, Jane Veal Bedingfield (Barry) of Conyers, and Jean Veal Miller (Neal) of Stapleton, nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, bother, Tobie Veal (Inez) of Wrightsville, and sisters Kate Veal Ivey, and Emmie Veal Bray both of Wrightsville, Hazel Veal Kyzer (Jack) of Hephzibah, Rubye Veal Holland of Brewton and Eloise Veal Ogburn (Bonnie) of Swainsboro.
The family will receive friends at their residence 901 Mulberry Street and one hour prior to the service at the church.
