Mr. Hartwell Stephen Archer, age 76, of 9769 Deepstep Road in Deepstep died Wednesday at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday February 27 in the Deepstep United Methodist Church with entombment in the Washington County Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Larry Giles will officiate. Pallbearers will be the members of the Deepstep Volunteer Fire Department.
Mr. Archer was a native of Hancock County, Georgia, the son of the late Julian Carswell Archer and the late Emma Lizzie Carr Archer. He was the husband of the late Gerda Anna Suttner Archer and was predeceased by a sister, Electa Archer Harris. He was a United States Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Viet Nam Conflict and retired with twenty years of service. Mr. Archer was a retired maintenance supervisor with the Georgia Department of Transportation. He was a member of the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church, the Deepstep United Methodist Church Men’s Club and the Deepstep Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors are his sons, Julian Archer and his wife Jamie of Tennille and Louis Archer and his wife Patty of Jacksonville, Florida, four grandchildren, Stephen Archer, Danielle Archer, Ashley Archer and Brooke Archer, two brothers, Joel Archer of Musella and Randall Archer of Warner Robins.
The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Friday. The family suggests that donations be made to the Deepstep United Methodist Church Men’s Club, 9968 Deepstep Road, Sandersville, Georgia 31082.
