Helen Louise Boatright Byrne

Mrs. Helen Louise Boatright Byrne, age 86, of Tennille died Monday night June 28 in the Washington County Regional Medical Center in Sandersville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday July 1 in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville with burial in the Zeta Cemetery in Tennille

Mrs. Byrne was a native and life long resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late James Hall Boatright, Sr. and the late Pearl Wommack Boatright. She was the wife of the late Charlie Earl Byrne. Mrs. Byrne obtained an Associate Degree from South Georgia College. She was a licensed cosmetologist with her sisters at Ideal Beauty Shop. Mrs. Byrne then became a licensed practical nurse practicing for years. In 1974 she attended Georgia College and graduated with an Associate Degree in nursing. She worked as a registered nurse with the Washington County Regional Medical Center in the Intensive Care Unit until her retirement. She was a member of the Tennille Baptist Church, the Tennille Eager Agers and the Tennille Woman’s Club. Mrs. Byrne was predeceased by a grandson, Chris Helton, two sisters, Mary B. Mills and Ruth B. Smith and a brother, J. H. Boatright, Jr.

Survivors are a daughter, Angela B. Helton and her husband, Tom of Warthen, two sons, Chuck Byrne and his wife Jeane of Sandersville and Michael J. Byrne and his girlfriend Luci Dunn of Tennille, six grandchildren, Amy B. Brantley and her husband Clay, Kelli B. Groover and her husband Ashley, Billy Helton and his wife Natasha, Alan Helton and his girl friend Cynthia Long, Anna Byrne and Alex Byrne, six great grandchildren, Gracie Brantley, Drew Brantley, Laura Ashley Groover, Logan Groover, Chris Helton and Will Helton, a brother, Buford O. Boatright of Pompano Beach, Florida and several nieces and nephews.

The family will be at the Byrne residence, 201 South Main Street in Tennille and will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday.
