Mrs. Helen Rachels Robinson, age 89, of Sandersville, died Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Heritage Inn Nursing Home. A celebration of her life will be held at Sisters Baptist Church on Friday, April 27 at 2pm. Reverend Danny Thomas and Reverend Gavin Adams will officiate. Pallbearers will be Blake Adams, Chris Robinson, David Robinson, Kevin Robinson, Jeffery Cramer, Josh Jones and Matthew Suggs.
Mrs. Helen was a lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late Machen G. Rachels and the late Bertha Pauline Walker Rachels. She was a member of Sisters Baptist Church and the adult choir, where she served as Children’s Choir Director, Senior Reflections Adult Choir Director, and a member of the Ladies Ensemble. She worked at the Georgia State Post Office for several years during the Legislature Session. She also was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for 18 years at WCRMC.
Mrs.. Helen loved her friends, caregivers and staff at Heritage Inn, traveling with friends, and spending time with family. One of her favorite activities was keeping up with family and friends on Facebook. She is preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Robinson, Jr., her son, Glynn Robinson, and four sisters, Mildred Layton, Sadie Swint, Lanette Garrett, and Varina Nyman.
She is survived by her children, Paulette Robinson Adams (Roger) of Peachtree City, Lynn Robinson Broxton (Gene) of Sandersville, George Robinson (Cindy) of Locust Grove; daughter-in-law, Nancy Robinson Pearson of Savannah; 8 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at May and Smith Funeral Home. Donations may be made to Sisters Baptist Church, 1807 E. McCarty Street, Sandersville, Georgia 31082.
