Helen Marie Roemer Thomas

Mrs. Helen Marie Roemer Thomas, age 94, of Linton died Wednesday morning, September 7, 2011, in an Augusta hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 10th, in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville. The Rev. Darell Young will officiate with burial in the Linton Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Thomas Ice, Dwayne Ice, Christopher Thomas, Bill Rivers, David Bryant and Dr. Fred Cullens.

Mrs. Thomas was a native of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Alfred Roemer and the late Nancy Forse Roemer. She was the wife of the late Albert Sheldon Thomas. Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by a son, Rev. Alfred Sheldon Thomas and a granddaughter, Deborah Thomas. Mrs. Thomas was a homemaker and a member of the Tennille Baptist Church. She was a member of Wellness Works.

Survivors are a daughter, Marian Thomas Ice of Linton, a son in law, Virgil Roy Ice of Linton, four grandchildren, Thomas (Tom) Ice, Dwayne (Sherry) Ice, Christopher (Cindy) Thomas, Suzanne (David) Bryant, five great grandchildren, Phillip Sheldon Callaway, Shelby Ice, Tana Bryant, Britney Bryant and Jesalyn Thomas, a daughter in law, Judy Rivers and a special friend, Carolyn Bell.

The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Friday. The family suggests donations be made to the Linton Community Cemetery Fund, c/o Dot Hussey, 1829 Hitchcock Cemetery Road, Sparta, Georgia 31087.
