Henry Glen Farmer, Jr

Rev. Henry Glen Farmer, Jr., age 76, of Johnston-Cochran Road in Tennille passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, August 14, 2023.  A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, August 19th at 2:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Daniel Porter and Reverend Andy Carter officiating.  His family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the Funeral Home.

Glen was born and reared in Washington County, the son of the late Henry Glen Farmer and the late Marjorie Rowena Smith Farmer.  He began his working career in high school as a disc jockey for WSNT Radio on Sandersville and was a graduate of Washington County High School.  Following graduation, Glen enlisted into the US Navy where he served in Viet Nam and would retire as a Chief Petty Officer in 1985.  After serving his country, Glen returned to Washington County where he worked at the Regional Youth Development Center at night and attended Brewton-Parker College during the day.  He graduated with bachelor's degrees in Arts and Humanities and in Divinity.  Glen was ordained as a Baptist minister in 1988 and served both the Harrison Baptist Church and Jackson's Baptist Church.  He also worked in various roles for the Carl Vinson VA in Dublin, lastly as an eligibility specialist.  Glen loved woodworking, building things and fishing.  He found great pride in keeping his yards.  Glen was passionate about animals, especially his dogs and cats.   He enjoyed riding bikes and being in nature.  One of his favorite loves was attending his grandchildren's events.

Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Sandy Farmer; children, Henry Glen Farmer III and his wife Chasity also of Tennille and Miki F. Caldwell and her husband Butler of Macon; grandchildren, Natalie F. Potter and her husband Adam, Cody Farmer, David Rippons, Elizabeth Farmer, Skylar Youmans, Jacob Zawacki and Vannah Zawacki; and siblings, Carolyn Holton and her husband Hubert of Titusville, FL., Josephine Bradley of Harlem, Bobby Dean Farmer and his wife Jennifer of Tennille, Barbara Bridges and her husband Pete of Sandersville, and Donald Farmer and his wife Jane of Harrison.
