Mr. Henry Irwin “Spud” Bridges, age 90, of 1737 Green Acres Drive in Vidalia died Wednesday night, May 25th at the Bethany Nursing Center in Vidalia after a short illness.
Spud was retired as Assistant Postmaster from the United States Post Office in Sandersville and later as a bank officer with the Geo. D. Warthen Bank in Sandersville. He was a longtime Senior Warden for Grace Episcopal Church in Sandersville, a member of the Episcopal Church of the Annunciation in Vidalia and a former member of the Sandersville Rotary Club. He served in the United States Navy in World War II.
His survivors include his wife, Sara Bell Bridges of Vidalia; daughters Anne and husband Zack Fowler of Vidalia and Jane and husband Rick Frisbie of Tucker; daughter-in-law Marjorie Bridges of Seneca, SC; grandchildren Jeff and wife Amy Fowler of Houston, Josh Fowler of Vidalia, Hank and wife Kristine Bridges of Fort Worth, Elizabeth and husband Rod Pedrotti of Houston; brother-in-law Clifford and wife Jackie Bell of Sandersville; and great-grandchildren Alexandria, Sam and Jack Fowler, all of Houston, and Payton Bridges of Fort Worth.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, and his son, Irwin Bridges.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Annunciation in Vidalia and at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Grace Episcopal Church in Sandersville. Visitation will be held one-half hour prior to the services at the churches. Interment will follow in the Brownwood Cemetery of Sandersville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Annunciation in Vidalia and Grace Episcopal Church in Sandersville.
