February 24, 1931 — May 8, 2024

Dalton

Mr. Henry Milton Williams Jr., age 93, of Sandersville passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, in assisted living Dalton, Georgia.  A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, May 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church with burial in the Church Cemetery. Elder Kenneth Brantley will officiate.  David Brantley, George Fulghum, Emmitt Hall and William Young will serve as pallbearers.   Mr. Williams’ family will greet friends prior to the service at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Mr. Williams was born in Macon, Georgia son of the late Henry Milton Williams Sr. and the late Margaret Carter Williams.  He began his working career at the age of 19 working for Central of Georgia Railway and later at Southern Railway.  During his railroad career he was promoted 12 times, each time requiring he and his family to transition.  With each move Milton's first priority would be to find a church home, join the church choir and then find a golf course.  In 1971 he and his wife Ann made their last move to Sandersville, where he was tasked with helping start a trucking company known today as B-H Transfer for Ben and Hugh Tarbutton.  He worked diligently until his first retirement in 1996, however he would soon return to oversee the development and building of the present company's home office and main terminal in Sandersville.  Milton continued to do work as needed until he completely retired from work and golf in 2015 to care for his wife, Ann Yarley Williams, who predeceased him in September of 2018.  He was a faithful member of Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church and a believer in the gospel of amazing grace.  He served as a church song leader for many years and a church Deacon until his death.  Milton possessed a passion for music and passed that love to both of his sons.

Survivors are his sons, Henry Milton "Hank" Williams III and his wife Nancy of Destin, Florida and Mark Boyd Williams and his wife Holly of Dalton, Georgia; grandchildren, Mark B. Williams Jr. (Katelyn), Kathryn W. Ryan (Jordan), Christopher M. Williams (Jacob); and great grandchildren Aliza Williams and Avory Williams.

Donations may be made to the Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church at 154 Mt. Gilead Church Road, Tennille, GA. 31089.
