Ida Frances Garbutt

April 29, 1919 — June 24, 2009

Mrs. Ida Frances Hall Garbutt, age 90, of Deepstep, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at the Washington County Extended Care Facility. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 27th at 11:00am at the Deepstep United Methodist Church with burial in the Church Cemetery. Rev. Larry Giles and Rev. Griffin Thompson will officiate. Pallbearers will be grandsons, grandson-in-laws and Howard Veal.

Mrs. Garbutt was a native and life long residence of Washington County the daughter of the late Zach Jarredd Hall and the late Louise Doolittle Hall. She was retired from Anglo American Clay Company as the office manager. Mrs. Garbutt was a member of the Deepstep United Methodist Church where she was the former church treasurer for nineteen years. She was active in the church through serving on numerous committees and circles as well as being an avid supporter of the Methodist Children’s Home. Mrs. Garbutt was also a member of the Washington County Pilot Club.

Survivors are her husband Gordon S. Garbutt, Jr., children Loring Boatright Sr. (Jenny) of Deepstep, George R. Garbutt (Nancy) of Sandersville, and Virginia G. Sheppard (Gene) of Oconee, grandchildren, Jill B. Buran (Scott), Robert L. Boatright Jr., Scott J. Boatright, Renee G. Holley (John), George R. Garbutt Jr., (Misty), Rose G. Brett (Jeremy), William E. Sheppard (Ginny) and Louise S. Stewart (Mark) and 12 great grandchildren.

The family will be at the Garbutt residence 253 Hall Dr. in Deepstep and will receive friends Friday from 5 to 7 pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home.

Donations may be made to the Deepstep UMC General Fund 9968 Deepstep Rd. Sandersville, GA. 31082 or to the Methodist Children’s Home P. O. Box 2525, Macon, GA. 31203.
