Irene Hughes Jordan

Mrs. Irene Hughes Jordan, age 98, of Sandersville, died on Saturday, October 14, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 17 in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church near Sandersville with burial in Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery.  Reverend Don Black will officiate.  Pallbearers will be Shaun Veal, Mark Allen, Clayton Sheppard, Ken Avant, Ted Thompson and Larry Veal.

Mrs. Jordan was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late Lee Joseph Hughes and the late Myrtis Tyner Hughes.  She was the wife of the late Charles Stephen Jordan.  Mrs. Jordan was a homemaker, a seamstress for Royal Mfg. and a former practical nurse.  She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, a former Sunday school teacher and a member of Women’s Missionary Union.

Survivors are her son, Ed Jordan and his wife Dianne of Warthen; grandchildren, Jessica Jordan Winkles and her husband Ron of Summerville, SC, John E. Jordan and his wife Meredith of Atlanta and Jason C. Jordan and his wife Kelly of Decatur; great grandchildren, Raleigh Winkles, Parker Winkles, Ella Jordan and Wyatt Jordan.

The family will receive friends at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church from 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday until the hour of service.
