Mrs. Irene Tapley Summerlin, age 88, of Sandersville died on Monday, May 2, 2016 in the Extended Care Facility in Sandersville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 5, in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville.
Burial will be private.
Mrs. Summerlin was a native of Johnson County but had lived in Washington County most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Carlos Tapley and the late Lavada Cordry Tapley. She was the wife of the late Clifford Brantley and the late Edwin Mayo "Sleepy" Summerlin, and the mother of the late Keith Brantley.
Mrs. Summerlin was a homemaker and a member of the Tennille United Methodist Church.
Survivors are: a step daughter, Selwyn Summerlin May and her husband Allen of Sandersville; a niece, Rosalyn Harrison Newberry and her husband Raines of Macon; an aunt, Genette Mimbs of Sandersville; a close friend, Kathy Sheppard of Sandersville; and several other nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home on Thursday morning from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of the service.
