Jack Douglas Wasden

July 15, 1932 — December 7, 2013

Mr. Jack Douglas Wasden, age 81, of 707 Evergreen Drive in Sandersville died on Saturday, December 7, 2013, in the Washington County Regional Medical Center in Sandersville following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 10th, at the May & Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery. Reverend
L. T. Logue and Reverend Danny Thomas will officiate. Pallbearers will be Russell Sheppard, J. B. Brown, Tony Dominy, Ronnie May, Les Brantley, Howard Brantley, Terry Lord, Tommy Gilbert and Rick Jones.

Mr. Wasden was a native of Jefferson County, Georgia, the son of the late Joseph Edward Wasden and the late Ruth Watkins Wasden. He lived in Sandersville for many years and was the retired store manager for Piggly Wiggly of Sandersville with over 35 years of service. Mr. Wasden was a Korean Conflict veteran in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Ridgeland Heights Baptist Church and the Washington County Civitan Club. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanine Wasden Herrin.

Survivors are his wife of 55 years, Peggy B. Wasden of Sandersville; a daughter, Lisa J. Wasden of Sandersville; a son, Barry Douglas Wasden of Deepstep; four grandchildren, Barry Douglas Wasden, Jr., Jessica Wasden, Michael Gable Marynell and John Caleb Stapleton; three great-grandchildren, Dannielle Veal, Gabriel Culver and Neyland Bradley Wasden; and two brothers, Wayne Wasden of Grovetown and Terry Wasden of Evans.

The family suggests donations be made to the Ridgeland Heights Baptist Church, P. O. Box 31, Sandersville, Georgia 31082.

The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Monday.
