Mr. Jackie Ray Bailey, age 56, of 7636 News Bridge Road in Harrison, Georgia died Thursday September 11. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday September 14 in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville with burial in the New Family Cemetery near Harrison.
Pallbearers are John Bailey, Richard Spivey, Richard Bolden, Billy Thompson, Mike Monford and Herb Lesher. Honorary pallbearers are Randy Banks, Andy Spivey, Mug Morgan, Tommy Bailey, Buck Wiggins, Kenny McKenny, Neil Kellar and Mike Kellar.
Mr. Bailey was a native of Coffee County, Georgia, the son of the late Louie Mack bailey and the late Lois Banks Bailey. He was a certified timber cruiser. Mr. Bailey attended Coffee County High School and during his senior year he was the number one football quarterback in the state. He attended Ware Technical School. Mr. Bailey was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors are his wife, Janet Guthrie Bailey of Harrison, three children, Jarod Bailey and his wife Alacia of Pennsylvania, Shana Bailey Lewis of Harrison, Austin Jack Bailey of Harrison, a step son, Samuel Ricketson of Douglas, six grandchildren, Wade Ricketson, Kade Ricketson, Shana-Carol Ricketson, Madison Bailey, Carter Bailey and Bailey Lewis, two sisters, Latrelle Bailey Dixon of Hampton, Va., and Sherall Bailey Spivey and her husband Larry of Douglas, two brothers, Marvin Bailey and his wife Jerri of Douglas and Waymond Bailey and his wife Barbara of Douglas and several nieces and nephews.
May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville is in charge of the arrangements.
