James Benjamin Amerson Jr.

Mr. James Benjamin Amerson, Jr., age 82, of Sandersville, died Sunday, May 15, 2016 at his residence following a brief illness. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 19th at 11:00 a.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Roger Holley officiating.

Mr. Amerson was a native of Washington County the son of the late J.B. Amerson Sr. and the late Mary Mathis Amerson. He was a heavy equipment operator and worked for various pipeline companies during his entire life. Mr. Amerson was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers and worked on the Alaskan pipeline. He was educated at the Davisboro School and the Sandersville High School and he was a member of the Downs Baptist Church.

Survivors are: his wife Denise Holton Amerson of Davisboro, sons, Ben L. Amerson and his wife Kim of Sandersville and J.B. “Jay” Amerson III and his wife Cathy of Greensboro, NC., grandchildren, Benji Amerson and his wife Krista, Kristin Amerson Hooks all of Sandersville and Michael Amerson of St. Simson Island, great grandchildren, Lexi Amerson of Jacksonville, FL., Kadence Amerson, Brylee Amerson and Jacob Hooks all of Sandersville.

The family will be at the residence of Kim and Ben Amerson on Woodland Drive in Sandersville and they will receive friends on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
