Reverend James E. Bridges, Sr., age 84, of Tennille, died Thursday, October 01, 2015 at the Wrightsville Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 3rd, at 11:00 a.m. at the Kendall Heights Church of God with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville.

Reverend Bobby Williford will officiate and pallbearers will be selected men of the Kendall Heights Church of God.

Reverend Bridges was born in Glascock County, the son of the late Ed Bridges and the late Lucy Price Bridges. He was a retired Church of God Minister and a member of the Kendall Heights Church of God. Reverend Bridges was a US Army Veteran serving in Korea where he earned three battle stars.

Survivors are: his wife Willie Bell Smith Bridges of Tennille; his children, James Edward Bridges Jr. and his wife Frances of Ivey, Douglas Eugene Bridges and his wife Lynn of Harrison, and Elaine B. Denton of Tennille; 14 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and his sister Dorothy B. Asbell and her husband Leonard of Valdosta.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.

Donations may be made to the Kendall Heights Church of God c/o James Norris, 5783 Hwy. 24 East, Sandersville, GA. 31082.

May and Smith Funeral Directors in Sandersville is in charge of the arrangements.
