James Daniel Craft, Sr.

Mr. James Daniel “Danny” Craft Sr., age 76, of Sandersville, died Monday, January 1, 2018.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 5 ^th , at 11:00 a.m. at Sandersville United Methodist Church.  Reverend Dr. Stan Littleton will officiate.  The family will receive friends following the service in the church Heritage Hall.

Mr. Craft was born and raised in Middletown, OH, the son of the late Herbert Scott Craft and the late Freda Fane Williams Craft. He was a graduate of Lemon-Monroe High School where he participated in the marching band. He spent his working career in the retail grocery business retiring as General Manager of McGee’s Supermarkets of Middletown.  Danny was active in the Middleton Moose Lodge # 501 and the Middleton Eagles Lodge Aerie # 528.  He possessed a great love of music and along with his first cousin Jerry McQuinn created the band Bounty Hunters which appeared on American Band Stand and also played backup for Neal Sedaka.  Later, Danny enjoyed performing with his mother in the band Freda Craft and the Wanderers, singing and playing the drums and bass guitar.  Danny retired to Sandersville and became an active member of Sandersville United Methodist Church where he continued his love of music by singing in the Adult Choir.  He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed watching football.  Danny is predeceased by his son, Christopher Allen Craft.

Survivors are; his wife, Carolyn Hollingsworth Craft of Sandersville; children, Cathi C. Webster and her husband James of Hanover IN., Heidi C. Dotson and her husband Danny of Melbourne FL., and James Daniel Craft Jr., and his wife Rachel of Trenton OH.; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren; and siblings, Roma C. Lewis and William F. Craft Sr. both of Middletown OH., and Rebecca C. Reffitt and her husband Ray of Salt Lick, KY.
