Mr. James Clayton Ivester, age 90, of Sandersville, formerly of Doraville, died Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Washington County Extended Care Facility. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday, January 24, at 2P.M. at Sandersville First Church of the Nazarene.
Mr. Ivester was born and reared in Carrolton, Georgia, the son of the late Joseph Louis Ivester and the late Ora Lee Leach Ivester. While attending college at Young Harris College, Mr. Ivester enlisted in the US Marine Corps serving between WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was proud of his military service and loved serving with Steve McQueen. After military service, Mr. Ivester began a career with General Motors working in the Lake Assembly Plant in Doraville from which he retired. Following work with General Motors, Mr. Ivester began work with his family's business, Ivester Flooring, installing hardwood floors. He was a member of the Gospel Harvest Church in Atlanta. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ivester is predeceased by his wife, Betty June Moore Ivester and his daughter, Sally Matilda Ivester.
Survivors are his children, Deborah June Ivester of Tuscon, Arizona, Guiliana I. Koehn and her husband Larry of Sandersville and James Christopher Ivester of Sugar Hill; grandchildren, Larry H. Yates, Brandi Cheryl Cook, Kimberli Rochelle Joselove and James C. Ivester, Jr.; six great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
