James Ruben "J. R." Knight

November 30, 1931 — January 23, 2014

Mr. James Ruben “J. R.” Knight, age 82, of Eatonton died Thursday evening, January 23, 2014, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 26th, in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville with burial in the Washington County Memorial Gardens. Reverend Eddie Wiggins and Mr. Dudley Horton will officiate.

Mr. Knight was a native of Johnson County, Georgia, the son of the late Edmund Knight and the late Cornelia Brown Knight. He was a retired construction supervisor for Thiele Kaolin Company with over twenty years of service. Mr. Knight was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of Liberty Chapel Church in Eatonton.

Survivors are his wife, Elizabeth Wiggins Knight of Eatonton; three daughters, Debi Toulson Wilson and her husband Stan of Atlanta, Gail Toulson Lawler and her husband Terry of College Park and Jamie Knight Speice and her husband Rob of Charlotte, NC; seven grandchildren, Matthew Wilson and his wife Abby, Christopher Wilson, Brian Lawler, Anna Kathryn Lawler, Nolan Speice, Kate Speice and Christin Lawler; two great- grandchildren Oliver Wilson and Libby Wilson; and a sister, Virginia Knight Meeks of Milledgeville.

The family suggests donations be made to the donor’s favorite local charity.

The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 12:30 P.M. until the hour of service on Sunday.
