James C. "Jimmy" Wicker

Mr. James Clyde “Jimmy” Wicker, age 81, of Sandersville, died Friday, January 17, 2014, at the Heritage Inn Nursing Home in Sandersville. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 20th, at 11:00 a.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Zeta Cemetery in Tennille. The Reverend Jimmy Harris will officiate. Pallbearers will be Christopher Williford, Doug Welch, Gerald Lord, Lee Avant, Benny Avant, Kevin Wicker and Mikey Goddard.

Mr. Wicker was born in Washington County the son of the late James A. Wicker and the late Donnie Lawrence Wicker. He was retired from the Englehard Clay Company as a machine operator. Mr. Wicker was a U.S. Navy Veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. He is predeceased by his first wife, Evie Lee Tanner Wicker.

Mr. Wicker is survived by his wife, Francine Welch Wicker; his daughter, Shirley Wicker Goodwin of Humbuck, TN; his step-son, Jay Williford and his wife Kim of Sandersville; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; his sister, Joanne W. Avant and her husband Hut of Sandersville; and nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4 to 6p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
