James Allen May

Mr. James Allen May, age 77, of Jonesboro, passed away on July 11, 2024. He went to Georgia Tech, Georgia State, graduated from Woodrow Wilson Law School and was a Music Minister. He served several churches, Trinity Baptist Church in Smyrna, Buckhead Baptist Church in Atlanta, Bethel Baptist Church in Jonesboro, Norton Park Baptist Church in Smyrna and North Atlanta Baptist Church in Atlanta. Mr. May was a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro, he worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield for 15 years, Mission To The World of The Presbyterian Church, USA for 2 years, North Avenue Presbyterian Church for 14 years and retired with 20 years of service at Delta Air Lines.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Dewey Edward (Margaret) May, Sr. and a brother, Dewey Edward May, Jr. He is survived his wife of 40 years; Tina Lovett May, children; Stephen Allen May of Marietta and Lauren Elizabeth May of Union City, grandson; Zayden Chase Thomas, nephew; Kevin May, nieces; Sheri Huggins, Marcia May, great nephews, great nieces and extended family.

A Funeral Service will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, July 13, at First Baptist Church of Jonesboro Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM prior to the service at the Church. A second Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Bethany Baptist Church in Tennille, GA. He will lie in state one hour prior to the service at Bethany Baptist Church. Interment will follow the service in the Church Cemetery.
