James Mcgregor Mccook

Mr. James McGregor McCook, age 78, of 2406 Shoals Road in Sparta died Friday morning May 25 in the Washington County Regional Medical Center in Sandersville following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday May 28 in the Bethel Baptist Church near Sparta with burial in the Culverton Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Lewis will officiate. Pallbearers will be Gavin Brown, Shane Boyer, Eric Barnes, Robert Burton, Mackie Cartledge and Austin Penna.

Mr. McCook was a native and lifelong resident of Hancock County, the son of the late McGregor McCook and the late Sara Clark McCook. He was a retired textile machinist. Mr. McCook was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and the Sparta Deer Camp.

Survivors are a sister, Doris Boyer and her husband Doyle of Sparta and a brother, Joe W. Burton, Jr. of Sparta and several nieces and nephews.

The family suggest donations be made to the Bethel Baptist Church, c/o Linda Barnes, 4494 Shoals Road, Sparta, Georgia 31087.

The family will receive friends at the Bethel Baptist Church Social Hall on Monday May 28 from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of service.
