James W. Miller

Mr. James W. “Jimmy” Miller, age 79, of Bartow, died Sunday, December 1, 2019 at his residence.   A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 5 th at 3:00 p.m. in Zeta Cemetery in Tennille.   Reverend Edward Salter will officiate.  The family will receive friends also on Thursday from 1:00p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.

Mr. Miller was born in Laurens County, the son of the late Chalmous W. Miller and the late Mary Maddox Miller.  During high school, Mr. Miller joined the Marine Corps and proudly served his country.  After his military service, he returned home and joined his father’s business, C.W. Miller and Associates, building saw mills up and down the east coast.   Following work in his family business, Jimmy worked as a machinist for Rachels Industries in Wadley and Thermo King in Louisville from which he retired.   Mr. Miller was a farmer who loved to raise both cattle and crops.  He is predeceased by his wife, Celesta Ann Garner Miller.

Survivors are his children, Leisha Rogers and her husband Jerry of Gainesville, Jimmy Miller Jr. and his wife Jennie of Louisville, Brenda Bevill and her husband Tony of Collins, Annette Crowley of Nevils, John T. Miller of Gillsville, Tracey Standridge of Tennessee, Bubba McGraw and his wife Pam of Bartow, and Diane Radford and her husband Allen of Evans; twenty two grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; and his sister, Cheryl Bell and her husband Clyde of Wadley.
